Lydiate’s Fallen Heroes
The project focused on the First World War Memorials at Our Lady’s Catholic Church and St Thomas’s Church, Lydiate. The former records nine names, and the latter, on the memorial inside the Memorial Chapel, fourteen names. However, historians were keen to point out that Herbert Finch, who was killed on 19th October 1917, was from Lydiate but does not appear on either memorial.
Please click on the memorial below which interests you and you will be able to read about all the relevant individual soldiers. All the research into these names has been carried out by Pam Russell and Bill Borland.
